Group 27 - HPPD-inhibitor Resistance

The Group 27 – HPPD Resistance Working Group is committed to advancing knowledge and best practices to address the growing challenge of resistance to HPPD-inhibiting herbicides. Our mission is to provide science-based guidance and foster collaboration to ensure sustainable weed management strategies globally.

Key objectives include:

  • Update on the new HPDD-inhibitors resistance cases: Continuously update the industry and scientific community on new cases of resistance to HPPD-inhibitors, including multi-resistance cases.
  • Recommendations:Develop and share practical guidelines for the responsible use of HPPD-inhibitors to mitigate as much as possible theevolution of HPPD resistance.
  • ScientificReview: Stay current with research on resistance mechanisms - both target-site resistance (TSR) and non-target-site resistance (NTSR) - through systematic literature reviews.
  • IntegratedStrategies: Evaluate and propose herbicide treatment programs and Integrated Weed Management (IWM) approaches that incorporate HPPD-inhibitors while mitigating resistance development.
  • ClassificationUpdates: Maintain and update the Mode of Action (MoA) classification poster to reflect upcomingHPPD-inhibitoractive ingredients.

Through these efforts, the Working Group aims to support growers, researchers, and industry partners in preserving the effectiveness of HPPD-inhibitors as a critical tool for sustainable weed control.
