Labeling Recommendations
The US HRAC supports informative and accurate information on labels so growers have the resources they need to make responsible herbicide decisions on their farms. Here is an example of a label in the United States.
The following language was developed by the members of HRAC in 2011 and is offered as a template for any herbicide registrant to use in order to include mode of action (MOA) numbers and guidelines in herbicide labels in the U.S. and other countries as appropriate.
United States Mode of Action Labeling
GROUP | [XX] | HERBICIDE
[Insert active ingredient name], the active ingredient in this product, is a Group [XX] herbicide based on the mode of action classification system of the Weed Science Society of America. Any weed population may contain plants naturally resistant to Group [XX] herbicides. Weeds resistant to Group [XX] herbicides may be effectively managed utilizing another herbicide alone or in mixtures from a different Group and/or by using cultural or mechanical practices. However, a herbicide mode of action classification by itself may not adequately address specific weeds that are resistant to specific herbicides. Consult your local company representative, state cooperative extension service, professional consultants or other qualified authorities to determine appropriate actions for treating specific resistant weeds.
